1. Revise your News Article Assignment.
After looking through your submissions, I found that students did not review the instructions (posted under classwork) for this assignment. EVERYONE needs to review, edit, and resubmit. Key issues to look out for:
- Make sure that your articles represent DIFFERENT perspectives about the same issue. They can not all offer the same narration of events. They should provide you different ways of looking at the news.
- MLA Citation. Check your works cited page!!! Review my example.
- USE EVIDENCE to support your claims about their Agenda.
- Do not write big paragraphs. Under each heading (e.g. Argument, Audience, Purpose, etc.) write a couple of sentences max for each Text (Labeled text 1, text 2, text 3). That way, you can examine all three texts and the way their Arguments (for example) DIFFER.
- Write a paragraph in which you examine what you now know/believe about the issue. This is not a summary of the different articles. What's true?
